A PhD researcher in political fandom & hashtag activism

Academic Life

My PhD research centres on how popular culture impacts political participation in young people, especially how the fan community impacts activism in Thailand.

In general, I’m interested in better understanding how popular culture intertwines with politics, how people embrace popular culture in political activity, and to what extent popular culture influences their political behaviour.

I’m also interested in researching everyday political communication within social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram. And the use of social media by politicians and political fandom.
